David A. Kraus, 77, of Findlay, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born December 4, 1936 in Junction City, Kansas to the late Ross and Violet (Lawrence) Kraus. David graduated in 1954 from Eskridge High School in Kansas. He married Doris (Hackworth) Kraus in 1962 and they shared 51 years together.
David served our country in the US Navy from 1955-1959 where he traveled the globe. After the Navy David worked at Newark Missile Base for 15 years. He went on to work at IBM where he retired after 30 years of service as a customer engineer. He and his wife were the owners of Rose Villa in Findlay for 15 years. David’s grandchildren were the loves of his life. He thoroughly enjoyed attending all of their sporting events and watching the OSU Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. His main hobby was fishing, and he enjoyed all of the wonderful times he shared fishing with his sons and grandchildren. Whether they took the boat to Lake Erie, the Findlay Reservoir, or Oakwood’s Nature Preserve, he always enjoyed the time spent together with his family.
David is survived by his wife, Doris Kraus; children, Lucy Kraus, David (Cindy) Kraus II, Steve (Debbie) Kraus, and Greg (Renee) Kraus; 6 grandchildren, Zack Kraus and Luke Kraus, of Columbus, Haven Zink, of Wendell, NC, Haze Kraus, Katelyn Kraus, and Jacob Kraus, of Findlay; 2 step-grandchildren, Wieler May , of Findlay, and Eric May, of Defiance; 3 great-grandchildren in NC; and a sister, Dorothy Stevens, of Marysville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruthie Morrow; and a brother, Arden Kraus.
A private celebration of David’s life will be held with family and close friends on Thursday, December 5th 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted to HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
