William J. (Bill) Leeper

William J. (Bill) Leeper, 86, of Glendale, AZ,  passed away on December 16, 2014 at Fox Run Manor, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 18, 1928 in Findlay, to Mildred (Haws) and Lester D. Leeper. He married Maxine (Smith) Leeper on September 4, 1948 and she preceded him in death.

William proudly served his country by joining the US Navy in 1945 where he served as a Seabee in Guam during WWII. He was a millwright, retiring as the head of the Maintenance Department from Cooper Tire & Rubber Company after 26 years in 1984 to Punta Gorda, Florida. He was an active member of the Cleveland United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving on the men’s club committee. William was also an active member of the Findlay Masonic Temple as a 32nd degree Mason, and the Scottish Rights of Toledo. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV, and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was a past exalted ruler of the Deep Creek Elks, Florida.

William is survived by his son, W. Scott (Sue) Leeper, of Glendale, AZ.;daughters, Billie
(Duncan) Daugherty, of Charlottesville, VA, and Connie (Richard Landess) Leeper, of Key Largo, FL, Jackie (Ronald) Scoles, of Bluffton, OH, Lee Ann DePinho of Clarksburg, WV, and Lisa (Michael) Williams, of Findlay; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. William is preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Leeper; daughter, Marlenne Habegger; sister, Marjorie Kain; and brother, Raymond Leeper.

As per William’s wishes, there will be no public services. A private family memorial service will be held. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions in William’s name may be made to the Hancock County Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
