Mickey Steve Stahler

Mickey Steve Stahler, 71, died peacefully on February 21, 2015 from cancer. He was born December 11, 1943 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Charles and Melva Finley Stahler and grew up in Waverly, OH. He married Mary Ellen Cormany in 1964 and they were divorced. On September 28, 1991 Mick married Barbara Painter St. Hilaire and she survives in Findlay.
Mick is also survived by son Kurt (Edith) of Gahanna, daughter Beth (Josh) Fulk of Findlay, daughter Karen (Martin) Kale of Dorr, MI, son Kevin (Heather) St. Hilaire of Amarillo, TX, sons Mel and Gary, daughter Nicole, and his dear Aunt Betty Weiss. Mick loved his grandchildren: Julia, Madeline, Peyton, and Jillian Fulk, Christopher Stahler, Sierra and Evan Kale, and Hailey and Hunter St. Hilaire. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty, and brother Gary.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Bridge Hospice for their loving care and support during Mick’s illness and to the dedicated people at Blanchard Valley Dialysis Services who treated Mick with special kindness for over 5 years.
Mick graduated from Waverly High School in 1962, marched with the Ohio State University Band, and was a member of TBDBITL Alumni Band. Later, he studied music at BGSU and finally graduated from the University of Findlay with a BS in Accounting in 1975. He was a lifelong fan of OSU Football and Cincinnati Reds Baseball and enjoyed frequent road trips with Barb. Mick played the upright string bass in the bluegrass band Slop Holler.
Mick worked at Cooper Tire, Solomon Software, Microsoft, and taught at Stautzenberger College in Findlay. Later, he did night audit at several hotels in Findlay and in Fargo, ND.
Mick was a current member of Zion U.M. Church in Findlay and a former member of Powell Memorial U.M.C where he taught Sunday School, was a lay leader, and lay speaker. He shared his wonderful singing voice in the choir and did vocal solos during worship services and at many weddings and other events. Mick was a caring and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was at his happiest when spending time with his kids and grandkids. Mick touched many lives with his compassionate spirit and his smile; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, Feb. 24 at 10:00 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 at Zion UMC, 9009 State Route 12 West, Findlay. Mick was a patriotic man with a high regard for our Armed Forces. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the Building Fund at Zion UMC.
