Gertrude E. Sharpe

Gertrude E. Sharpe, 94, of Findlay, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Heritage Manor. She was born on January 21, 1921 in Portage Twp. to the late Henry and Naomi (Leathers) Bossler. She was a 1939 graduate of Cygnet High School. Gertrude worked for A&P and for the State of Ohio. She was a member of the D.A.V., and the Fostoria Eagles 430. Gertrude loved to bake. She was known for her big sugar cookies.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Patricia Nungester, Sandra Piper, James (Ruby) Piper, and Jonathan (Tracy) Piper; step-daughter, Margaret Ann Butcher; grandchildren, Amy Blakely, Chris Nungester, Eric (Laura) Nungester, Jennifer (Mike) Masko, Heather Palmer, Nikki Piper, Brook Piper, Landin Piper; step-grandchildren, Josh Frankfather, Chelsea (Jevon) Moll, Tim, Tom and Tammy Butcher, and Frankie and Mickey Weiker; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Bossler, of Fostoria; and several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her son-in law, Larry Nungester; siblings, Isadore, LaVerne, Kathleen, Mary, Norma, and Arleen; and a step-son, Bud (Nancy) Weiker.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, from 10-11 a.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A Celebration of Gertrude’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The family ask that those wishing to express a token of sympathy to “pay it forward” with an Act of Kindness in Gertrude’s name.
