James W. “Brownie” Brown, 71, of Findlay, went to be with his Lord and Savior after his courageous battle against cancer for the past 4 years on July 26, 2015 with his loving wife, Hye Kim Brown and family at his side. He was born May 10, 1944 to the late Hylas W. and Cleniece Otta (Bowman) Brown.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 – 1968 before being honorably discharged. He worked for Whirlpool before retiring after 41 years of service. In 1996, Brownie proudly ran the Olympic torch. He was a fitness enthusiast, coached young miss softball, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and OSU. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and was always laughing as well as making others laugh. Brownie knew no strangers. James was a member of Evangelical Free Church and the OWL Bible Study group, Wayside Golf Course, and Sportsmans Lane Bowling.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bridge Hospice Care Center for the wonderful care and support they provided during this difficult time. A special Thank-You to Social Worker Marcia, Nurse Jayne, and Nurse Aid Kelly.
James is survived by his wife; son, Brad A. Brown (Anika Midge Ewing); daughters, Katina Zilcomo, Lisa (Randy) White, Marcia Brown, Kimberly Johns, and Jennifer Johns; grandchildren, Morgan Brown, Jerry Brown, Randy, Shelby, Ava, and William White; brother, Tom (Fran) Brown; sisters, Carol Campbell, and Robin Peterson. He was preceded in death by grandson, Jimmy Brown; brothers, Frank Brown and Jerry Brown; sister, Louise Althaus.
