Donald Lee Darnell, 74, of Findlay, passed away on August 1, 2015 at Fox Run Manor. He was born March 14, 1941 in Gallipolis, OH to the late Lowell Sheridan Darnell and Ruth Elizabeth (Donalds) Darnell Hile. He married Doris A. Darnell on June 4, 1962 and they shared 53 loving years together.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 1958 – February 1962 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a millwright for 20 years before retiring. Donald was a life member of the V.F.W, Amvets and the D.A.V. Other memberships included the American Legion, the Moose, and the American Vets. He loved spending time with his family and was also an avid Ohio State fan, enjoyed golfing, bowling and supported the Findlay Trojans.
Donald is survived by his wife; sons, Jeffrey A. (Becky) Darnell, John L. (Kim) Darnell, and Denny L. (Sherri) Ward; daughters, Jill M. Darnell, Donna L. (Chuck) Brown, and Linda R. Obosla; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth K. Cureton; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved K-9, Jack.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 1:30 P.M. with Reverend Dr. Sharon A. Showman officiating. Interment will take place at Lee Cemetery in Vanlue with full military rites by the Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorial contributions in Donald’s name may be made to the Findlay Amvets Post 21.
