
Forrest (Toad) O. Hartman, 90, of Arlington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Bridge Hospice Care Center surrounded by the love of his family. He was born March 6, 1929 to the late Emmanuel and Mabel (Caris) Hartman. On August 27, 1950, Forrest was united in marriage to Rachel Essinger. Shortly thereafter, in March 1951, he served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict before being honorably discharged in 1952.
Forrest was a 1947 graduate of Arlington High School. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenera. He served for many years as Financial Secretary, Trustee and Elder. He was also a member of the VFW in Arlington and for about 48 years, he worked as a home builder. Forrest enjoyed his time with family, traveling, fishing, hiking, reading, and building furniture for the family.
Forrest will be remembered by his loving wife of 68 years, Rachel; children, Jennifer (Denis) Fox, Jane (Van) Follas, and Jody (Richard Jr.) Wolford. Grandfather to Andrew (Lindsay) Follas, Abby (Andy) Fitch, Jonathon Fox, Sarah (Corey) Morgan, Amanda (Jacob) Leu, Erica (Gideon) Fisher, and Ben Wolford. Great-grandfather to Taylor Follas, Megan Follas, Ryan Morgan, Joshua Morgan, Mason Leu, Cohen Leu, Eli Fitch, Owen Fitch, Claire Fisher, Caleb Fisher, Emerson Fox, Aaron Fox, and Addison Fox. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Donavon, Dale, Harold, Raymond (Pete), and Clair.
The family would like to extend a very special THANK-YOU to the Bridge Hospice Care Center for their kind and compassionate care shown to Forrest and the family during this difficult time. The personnel were truly a blessing to all.
Friends and family may visit on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9340 Twp. Rd. 32, Jenera, OH 45841. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 12 at the church with Pastor Steve Edminston officiating. Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery with the Hancock County Veteran’s Memorial Squad performing full military rites. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions in Forrest’s name may be made to St. Paul Church Building Fund.
