Jeffrey Dayrus Montgomery, 61, of Ada, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11:45 p.m. at his home with his wife, daughter and son at his side. He was born July 16, 1954 in Lima, Ohio to the late Bun and Ora (Thacker) Montgomery.

Jeff graduated from Ada High School in 1972 and attended Lima Technical College. He married Karen Klingenberger on January 19, 1973. In April of that same year, he began working at Ford Motor Company in Lima. He retired in 2003 after 30 years of service.

Jeff and Karen had two children, Carrie Hurley of Marysville, OH and Heith and his wife Sarah (Shields) and their three children, Stella, Porter, and Scarlett of Petersburg, Virginia.

Jeff was blessed to be able to spend several days of his last two weeks visiting with family and friends. His brother Bun and wife Lucille came from Anamosa, Iowa; his sister Barb and husband Leonard Earl traveled from Nokomis, Florida; his sister Jackie and husband Marshall Trautwein were here from Crestwood, Kentucky. Many of their memories were of time spent with their brother Forrest Michael who preceded Jeff in death. Local family and friends came by to sit and talk with him. He deeply enjoyed the conversations and memories he shared with them. For loved ones that lived too far away to visit in person, especially his many nieces and nephews from across the country, Jeff was able to talk with them on the phone. Jeff liked watching OSU football and Kentucky Wildcats basketball games. He cherished his notes, letters and drawings from his granddaughter Stella.

Jeff’s wishes were to be cremated. There will not be any services at this time. The family is planning a Memorial Service for this summer around his birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Ada, Bridge Hospice of Findlay or OSU James Cancer Center. The family is very grateful for their care, assistance and support through the last few weeks.

The family wants to thank family and friends for their love and presence during this difficult time, especially Pastor Jack Duffy for his many visits, conversations, guidance and prayers.

HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
