Julie A. Malone 82, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. She was born on June 02, 1935 to the late Thornton and Julia (Bowman) Iliff. She married William Malone and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2017. Julie was a homemaker and a past member of the Moose Lodge.

Julie is survived by her loving children; son, David (Diane) Beckford, of Carey; daughters, Deb Shafer, of Colorado Springs, CO, Kim (Danny) Miller, of Lima, Lisa (Ray) Decker, and Leslie (Ruediger) Schuh, both of Findlay; her 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and a sister, Mary Jo Stanfield.

Julie got the call and has vanished from sight, but she says she’s alright, please remember she’s only a smile or a tear or a whisper away. She’s now a citizen of that great city where praises never end, not even for a day.

Some might think her mischievous with red hair, big brown eyes, freckled face and that sly Iliff grin. Tiny, but mighty would describe her best. Sweet sprinkled with spice, deliberately nice, divinely not like the rest.

Julie’s abiding love for family knew no bounds and in each and every moment joy could be found. She always called to get the latest news and to talk through life’s worries and the worlds views. Oh, these were interesting calls for sure, even if she never solved the world’s ills, it was nice to unload sorrows and hope for better days still.

She wouldn’t forget a birthday, no not her, her heart was intentional and true. The goal to show care and compassion made its mark right when it was due.

Julie’s potato candy was the most scrumptious indeed, when asked for the recipe, she couldn’t say. It wasn’t written down, it was a form of play. Her candy will be a sweet treat best served at a glorious heavenly reunion one day.

On one of her days marked as the best you could find her flee marketing with her hubby and best friends. Plans would be made; a date would be set. Then soon they would be off to the best deals Bill, Julie, Claude and JoAnne could get.

Julie has fallen into her long slumber and now has Bill as the first through the last of her dance card numbers! Yes, her dance card is complete, the reunion abounds and they will see US the next time around.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Olive M. Evans

Our blessed Christian Mother, Olive “Marlene” Evans, 79, of Findlay, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Mom preferred to be called Marlene. Daughter of the late Roy E. Newlon and Rev. Katherine A. (Bibler) Roberts, was born on June 21, 1938 in Findlay, Ohio. Marlene married Charles Dewey Evans and he preceded her in death.

Marlene volunteered for over 20 years at the City Mission when it was started by Mary Carmen and then Ernie and Brenda Pagel. She was an adult bible leader and played the piano. She played for church services, weddings and funerals without any pay. She also volunteered with Home Missionaries with Betty Neff for 10 years. Marlene worked for the Loudan Home as a house mother and counselor to young women for 10 years. As a homemaker, she made the best pies, biscuits and her specialty chicken pot pie. Marlene canned all the vegetables, fruits, made jelly’s and jams from dad’s “Dewey’s” extensive garden. She did not have money, but we always celebrated the holidays as best as possible. Marlene welcomed all to her house with a hot pot of coffee. She did all the typical partys women did back in the “day”. Tupperware, Stanley, Watkins, Artex, and Bee Line parties and always had punch and a snack.

Marlene was able to see a lot of America and Europe. She traveled to Arizona, Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and fell in love with the west with the gorgeous red rock and mountains. She traveled to Frankfurt Am Main, Germany, with time spent in the Netherlands, Austria in the Bavarian Alphs with a highlight of seeing the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Marlene also traveled to Louisiana and was excited to see her first in the wild, alligator!

Marlene had a great love for animals, especially for abused abandoned and sheltered animals. She leaves behind her cats, Harry and Miki, and Dennis’s dog, Pearl. Past beloved pets was dogs, Picky, George, cats, Betty and Buddy. Mom believed animals had souls and that they would go to heaven, waiting for her.

Mom was a quick wit and told “ornery” jokes and always the center of attention.
She never lost her humor even when challenged by having to go on dialysis. Her humor kept her strong until God asked her to go home and be with all of her loved ones.

Mom’s strong Christian belief helped her overcome life’s battles. She knew she would see everyone in heaven again and she and Dewey would have a log cabin mansion in the sky.

Marlene is survived by her son, Dennis L. Evans; daughters, Debra K. and Virginia S. Evans all of Findlay; grandchildren, Shirley M. (Nicholas) Blaine, and Jessica L. Onan; and 3 great-grandchildren, Reno C. Evans, Ariel Y. Evans, Emma L. Onan, and one due any day now. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon R. (Bill) Nudd; sisters-in-law, Rosealee Roberts and Virginia Roberts; and a brother-in-law, Jack Houtz. Marlene was preceded in death by her brothers, James A. Roberts and John “Sam” Roberts; sister, Katherine M. Houtz; and grandchildren, Charlie Tina Evans, and Edwin L. Onan III.

We want to thank the staff at Blanchard Valley ICU and all the staff for taking good care of Mom.

Daniel Joseph (DJ) Decker-Keene Jr., 26, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017. He was born on September 14, 1991 in Bluffton to Beth A. Decker and the late Daniel J. Keene.

DJ was a lover of life. He was quick-witted and had a ready infectious laughter. DJ was a charmer that stole your heart with his devilish humor and beautiful smile. He was known for being there for his friends and family, he would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He touched hearts that were in need. DJ loved his girls, Evany and Isabella, he was excited to meet his future child. Although DJ cannot be here to tell us to “remember, if you need me, call me. I love you fam.” He would want us to lean on each other and love like never before. He’s everywhere; in the faces of his family, in the memories of his friends, and he’s going to always be Brianna and Michael’s keeper. DJ loved art and drawing for others, fishing with his loves, Evany and Brooke. He enjoyed living to the fullest no matter his circumstances because we only have one. DJ was more than a son, brother, father, and cousin. He was a brother. Whether your passion was collecting Pokémon or collecting Hot Wheels, whatever it was, he always encouraged you. He taught us many things, all the way down to strawberry syrup on bread is not good. If he broke your nose, he carried you all the way back home. It takes a special someone to own up to their mistakes. He knew what was right and what was wrong, he just got a little lost trying to provide for others.

“Embrace every breath as if it’s your last and expect the unexpected.”

Daniel is survived by his mother, Beth; two daughters, Evany Rose and Isabella Jace Decker; brothers, David M. J. Decker-Moore and Mickey Charlton; sisters, Brianna D. Decker-Davis, Lexi Keene, Ashley Keene, and Brittany Bennett-Dawson; and his grandfather, David Decker.
