Michael L. Launder

Michael Lee Launder, 69, of Findlay, Ohio passed away the morning of March 1, 2018 at Primrose Retirement Community. He was born on April 8, 1948 in Findlay to the late Harold and Verena Launder.

Mike married Diane Adams on October 5, 1968 and she preceded him in death in 2014. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Laura (Keith) Williams, Michelle Ruehle of Findlay and Erin Launder (Michael Torres) of Asheville, NC; 5 grandchildren, Madison and Mason Williams, Logan (Jordan) and Cole Benjamin, and Abigail Ruehle; and 1 great-granddaughter, Addison Walker. His twin sister Marsha (Tom) Cramer also survives in Findlay.

Mike was a 1966 graduate of Findlay High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines and served in Vietnam. After serving his country, he worked at Cooper Tire as a shipping supervisor and retired after 33 years. In his free time, Mike liked to travel, especially to Las Vegas or casinos. He loved to garden his whole life and even had a garden at Primrose where he took pride in sharing his produce with residents and staff.

Mike was also an avid fisherman. He enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada and Lake Erie with his fishing buddy of over 40 years, Darrol Leeper. He instilled the love of fishing onto his grandsons. You could always find him out at the Cooper Tire Fishing club. Mike was a charter member and board member there.

Ancil Cole Crothers, 25, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 22, 1992 in Steubenville, Ohio to Ancil T. Crothers and Amy Jo Bell.

Ancil was a beautiful soul. He had the biggest heart and would do anything to help anyone in time of need. He was always there for his friends and family. Ancil impacted so many lives in his short time on this earth. He was bigger than life itself and always kept you laughing. His laugh alone would make anyone smile. Ancil loved his friends and family more than anything and he will truly be missed and never forgotten.

Ancil is survived by his mother, Amy Jo Bell; brothers, Randy Brock, Duke Lemons and Charles Cooper; sisters, Deven Bell (Bryan Reddish), Amanda Owen, Desiree Rizor, Alyssa Guthrie, Megan Guthrie, Casie Rizor, all of Findlay, and Laurie Crothers of Dillonville, Ohio. Ancil is also survived by his grandmother, Deborah Cofrancesco; uncles, Wayne Bell III, Joe (Susan) Cofrancesco and Bob Cofrancesco; 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ancil Terry Crothers; step-father, Ronald Rizor; bother, Jacob Rizor; grandmother, Susan Rizor; grandfather, Wayne Bell; great-grandmother, Rose Bell; nephew, Noah Guthrie-Brodbeck; and niece, Lillian Mitchell.

Donna J. Sharp

Donna Jean Sharp, age 80, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Findlay, Ohio, went to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 6, 2018. Donna was born on February 26, 1938 to the late William and Mabel (Sommerville) Gonyer. She married Walter M. Steensen and he preceded her in death in 1962. She later married Winfred A. Sharp who preceded her in death in 2014.

Donna is survived by her sons, Daniel (Beverly) Steensen of Las Vegas, NV, Ronald (Karen) Sharp of Sarasota, FL; and daughter, Beverly Woodward of Fostoria, OH; grandchildren, David Yoder (Susan Haugh) of Findlay, Lisa (Jason) Allen of Riverview, FL; 5 great-grandchildren, Chasity and Jocelyn Haugh, Dominic, Samantha and Benjamin Allen; sisters, Mae Miller of Clearwater, FL and Mildred (Cecil) Leasure of Findlay; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Donna in death are her sisters, Lois Clark, Barbara Frisbee, and Janet Sue Gonyer.

Donna held many jobs over the years, mostly in serving others. She had a great passion for singing, she sang in the church choir for years, also singing at one point with Sweet Adelines. Donna’s favorite thing to do was making crafts, she also was a very talented seamstress. Donna loved life, she was always ready to go do something fun.

Taylor D. Richardson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Taylor Danielle Richardson, of Bluffton, Ohio, who passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the age of 29 years. She was born in Findlay, Ohio to Chris D. Miller and Leslie A. Richardson on October 13, 1988. Taylor is survived by her son, Camden A. Haas of Findlay, Ohio, whom she whole heartedly loved. Her mother, Leslie, survives her in Bluffton along with her grandfather, Seth Richardson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, near and far. Preceding her in death is her father, Chris D. Miller; grandmother, Barbara A. Richardson; grandparents, Carlton and Marilyn Miller; great-grandparents, Harold and Bessie Weinreich, Byron and Flossie Richardson.

Taylor had a smile that could light up a room. Her laugh was just as beautiful. She was an amazing bartender who enjoyed serving her customers. Taylor absolutely adored her son Camden. She loved her friends and family and she loved hard. Taylor left her mark on anyone that knew her. She was the kind of person, even if you only met her once, you would never forget. Very charismatic, a special kind of beauty. Besides her family and friends, she loved music, concerts, art, the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, and riding on the back of a Harley. Hanging with her girls having drinks or just in PJ’s watching movies. She loved anything from the 60’s and 70’s era. She truly was a Gypsy soul with a Rock and Roll heart! Taylor will be terribly missed by everyone and definitely never forgotten.

A Celebration of Taylor’s life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Memorial contributions in Taylor’s name may be made to the Charity of the donor’s choice.

Patricia May Essinger, 57, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at her residence. She was born on December 18, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Charles Close and Lucille (Burkey) Humm. Patricia is survived by her sons, Leroy A. Essinger, Bobby Jo Essinger, Casey G. Essinger, and Roger (Misty) Essinger; daughter, Kristen (Matt) Colvin; brothers, Chuck, David, Bob, Fred, Ricki; sisters, Bernace and Elizabeth; and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy L. Essinger.

Patricia enjoyed watching her favorite shows, Storage Wars, Fixer Upper and Growing Up with Bates. She loved to talk with people, laugh and be cheerful.

Cassity A. Green

Cassity Ann Green, 26, and her unborn child, of North Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Findlay, Ohio, were tragically taken away from her family and placed unto the hands of the Lord on October 23, 2017. She was born May 10, 1991 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to Donald E. Green and Marilyn R. Siefer.

Cassity loved her son Landen and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed modeling, shopping, fishing, cheerleading, and playing cards. She attended Van Buren High School and Ada High School. Cassity was a member of the Van Buren Black Knight Cheerleading and the Findlay Elite Cheerleading Team as well as the Ada Bulldog Cheerleading. She was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Cassity is survived by her son, Landen M. Green; father, Donald E. Green; mother, Marilyn R. Siefer; brothers, Tony (Rachel) Butler, Mick Green, Douglas Spitler, Jordan Mitchell and Ronnie Anderson; and her sister, Amanda Montgomery. She is also survived by her grandfather, Robert C. Siefer; aunt, Rosemary Siefer; uncles, Robert (Tina) Siefer, Mark Keeran, Leroy (Cheryl) Siefer, Allan (Tammy) Siefer, Joey Green, Grover Green, Jeremiah Green and Joseph Green. Also surviving are her adoptive family, parents, Susan M. (Stahl) Mattson and Paul E. Mattson; and siblings, Katelyn, Noah, Nathan, Ashley, Daniel, and Cody. Cassity was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Patricia Eckman-Siefer and Mabel Andrus-King; grandfather, Dorsey Green; uncle, James Green; and aunt, Janice Siefer.

Carl S. Smith, 70, of Findlay, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to the late Carl J. and Dorothy M. (Kline) Smith. Carl proudly served in the US Navy during Vietnam before being honorably discharged. He is survived by his wife Roxanna (Faurot) Smith of Findlay; sons, Carl Craft and Delmer A. Smith both of Upper Sandusky, OH. He is also survived by his sister, Blanch R. Petermen; and step-brothers, Gary, Larry, and Carl D. Kesseberth.

Gerald R. Heldman

Gerald R. Heldman, 81, of Mount Cory, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at The Heritage. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio on November 25, 1936 to the late Ira and Mary (Sheriff) Heldman. Gerald married Shirley Shroyer on July 23, 1956 and she preceded him in death. He later married Carol J. Kline in 1979 and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2014. In 1997, Gerald retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service. He loved traveling, camping, fishing and working on vehicles. Gerald loved being with his family.

Gerald is survived by his children, Cheryal Heldman of Tiffin, Daryal (Martha) Heldman of Tiffin, Terry (Grace) of Pandora, Brad (Patti) Heldman of Mt. Cory, Jeff (Kristy) Heldman of Mt. Cory, and Lisa (Dave) Fornof of Bluffton; 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Paul Heldman. Gerald was preceded in death by a step-son, Darren Greer; and siblings, Matt, Louis, John, Harvey, Adelbert, Marcelle, and Laura.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Main Street, Jenera, OH 45841. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon following visitation with the Reverend Alois Schmitzer III as celebrant. Burial will follow the service in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Betty Louise Lindsey, 87, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Primrose Assisted Living. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Kettlersville, Ohio to the late Albright A. and Mildred J. (Mueller) Quellhorst. Betty married the love of her life, Wayne E. Lindsey, in 1963, a marriage that would last 54 wonderful years. Together they raised a son, Kevin G. Lindsey of Hilliard, OH; and a daughter, Julia L. (Doug) Barchent of Findlay, OH.

Betty loved her family and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, she liked to read, and was a Girl Scout leader.

In addition to her husband, Wayne; and her children, Betty is survived by her three grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeffrey and Lindsey Barchent, all of Findlay; and three great-grandchildren, Cullen Caeden and Aria Tussing. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Quellhorst and Dale Quellhorst.

Jordan M. Sheldon, 21, of Arlington, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his residence. He was the beloved son of Tonya (Kuhlman) and the late Shawn M. Sheldon, born on May 26, 1996 in Findlay, Ohio.

Jordan was a 2014 graduate of Arlington High School and worked at Paper Tech in Findlay. He loved to hunt and go fishing.

Jordan is survived by his mother, Tonya; brothers, Justin Sheldon and Josh (Kayla) Boeckman; sisters, Allie and Samantha Sheldon; and his grandparents, Ron (Barbara) Kuhlman and Don (Cheryl) Sheldon.

Mary Rosanna Lewis, 44, of Findlay, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 25, 20188 at her residence. She was born on December 21, 1973 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Barbara Suter and the late Ronald Lewis. She is survived by her son, Abraham “Trey” Green; and her daughter, Taylah Lewis. She is also survived by her siblings, Joe Lewis, Aaron Lewis, Timothy Scott, April Lewis, and Chris Suter.

Mary was the Regional Manager at 24 Hour Fitness.

Frances “Cookie” “Maw Maw” Mae Cole, 64, of Findlay, passed away peacefully surrounded by family early Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018. She was born on May 10, 1953 in Tiffin, Ohio and adopted at an early age by the late Arnold and Helen (Fisher) Messenger. In 1979, she married the love of her life Thomas Cole Sr., a marriage that would last 38 wonderful years.

Frances was a Cory Rawson High School graduate and attended the Ohio State Beauty Academy. She worked at Olive Garden as a prep cook before retiring. Frances enjoyed cooking, taking trips to Amish Country, babysitting, softball and basketball events, and simply having her family around her.

Frances is survived by her husband, Thomas Sr.; son, Thomas Cole Jr. (Sarah Lawrence); daughters, Heather (Casey) Cole-Henderson, and Kelley (Matthew) Foltz; grandchildren, Ka’Seana (fiancé Chaze Proehl), Kane, Shiloh, Ambry and Grayson; and her great-grandchildren, Ka’Lilah and Baby J (Boy). She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond Messenger, Ed Myers; and goddaughter, Kyliegh Ibarra. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Nona Boff.

Sandra Paulette Paris

Sandra Paulette Paris, 63, of Findlay, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at her residence. She was born to the late William O. and Bessie E. (Paris) Davis on February 6, 1955 in Lester, West Virginia.

Sandra loved to be the life of the party. She lived her life unapologetically and never looked. Sandra loved her children, Liz and Johnny with all her heart. Her grandchildren she adored. She was her mother’s first baby girl and they had a special bond. Sandra also had a special bond with aunt Teeny who has always had her back. Her brothers and sisters were her buddies and she to us was the best big sister anyone could have. Sandra had a beautiful voice, she loved to sing pitch perfect with great range. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, and trivia. Infact, she could have easily won Jeopardy! Sandra loved to laugh and make others laugh with and at her. She really could have been a comedian.
We all love her dearly and will miss her terribly!

Sandra is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth S. Paris and Johnathan A. Paris both of Findlay; grandchildren, Zamon D., Javohz M., and Jayde B. Paris, Melanie L. Zehender and Malik A. Paris. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry M. (Jenny) Paris of Gomer, OH, Kenneth A. (Nguzi) Davis of Lima, OH, Robert S. (Marijo) Davis of Toledo, OH and Bryan K. Davis of Toledo; sisters, Cathy L. David of Toledo, Rochelle D. (William) Davis and Kimberly A. (Rick) Davis both of Lima, OH. Other survivors include a very large host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including her special friend, Sonya Hamilton. Sandra was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Paris “Chucky”; and cousin, Tyrone Paris.

Merle A. Butler

Merle A. Butler, 83, of Findlay, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born December 21, 1934 in McComb, Ohio to the late William A. and Catherine R. (Metz) Butler. On May 26, 1956 Merle was united in marriage to Joanne E. Basinger, a marriage that would last 61 wonderful years.

Merle worked 21 years for Great Western Sugar Company, 6 years for Hancor, and retired from Centrex after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Northwest Ohio Antique Machinery Association, and past volunteer for Liberty and Blanchard Twp. Fire Departments. Merle enjoyed spending time with his family and collecting antique tools and watching westerns and NASCAR.

In addition to his loving wife Joanne, Merle is survived by his two children, David A. and Jodie I. Butler, both of Findlay. He is also survived by a brother, Carl O. Butler (BJ) of Findlay. Merle was preceded in death by his sister, Dorotha Mae Butler; and a brother, Lester E. (Roberta) Romick.

Debra Sue Mompher, 67, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Dennis D. Mompher, who died March 7, 2015. Debra was born on June 25, 1950 in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Gaylord Lauck and Dorothy (Augustine) Baird.

Debra enjoyed flowers, gardening, crafts, spending time with family and listening to oldies music.

Debra is survived by her children, Charles Frost, Mike (Laura) Frost, and Lorie (Travis Ring) Dulgar; grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Michael, Tabatha, Courtney, Marcus, Robbie, Dallas and Steven; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Jameson and Jalin. She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Don and Sue Mompher; brother, David Lauck; and sister, Laura Jane Leisure. Debra was preceded in death by brothers, John and Duane Lauck.

He was born on January 7, 1939 in Sandusky County to the late Byron and Lillian (Cobb) Klotz. On July 14, 1958, Donald married his darling Patricia Parman, a marriage that would last 59 wonderful years.

Donald graduated from Risingsun High School in 1957. He was a Kansas, Ohio volunteer Fireman and a licensed umpire for high school and college softball and baseball in Ohio and Florida. In 1993, Donald retired from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria, Ohio after 31 ½ years of service. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling, sports, and working outside and in his rose garden.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughters, Lynn (William) Webster, Diana (Dale) Moyer, Sandra (Steve) Bowles and LeeAnn (Tim) Graydon; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Richard, Stanley and Douglas Klotz; sister, Joyce Risch; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Klotz and Sarah Klotz. In addition to his mother and father, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Robert and David; and sister, Judy Walby.

Our family is so grateful for each one that was a part of Don’s care during his long journey with Parkinson’s and dementia. He is now at rest in the arms of his Heavenly Father.

Friends and family may visit on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 1st from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. following visitation. Pastor Gordon Dickson will officiate. Mary E. Hawkins

Mary E. Hawkins, 77, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. Born in Woodstock, Illinois on September 19, 1940, Mary was the daughter of the late Thomas George Klabough and Mary Margaret McCalla. Mary met the love of her life, Jerry Hawkins, at a movie theater in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. On July 11, 1958, Jerry and Mary were married. Jerry survives.

In their close to 60 years of marriage, Mary and Jerry had three children: son Barry Hawkins (Sharon) of Granger, Indiana, and daughters Bethany Powell (Chris), and Meredith Pitt (Patrick), both of Findlay. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Stephanie Hawkins Wolfe, Amanda Meikle, and McCayla, Evan, and Jenna Pitt. Mary was also blessed to have eight great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her half-sister, Leslie Ropas, who lives in Schaumburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Lott.

At Mt. Vernon High School, Mary was a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Homemakers of America, and the senior class play. As if by fate, she was a member of the Future Teachers of America and it came as no surprise that Mary worked steadfastly and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Library Science from Bowling Green State University.

After graduation, Mary began her teaching career at Vanlue Local School. Not only was Mary a high school English teacher and high school librarian, she served as advisor for a number of classes, was a quiz bowl coordinator, and was responsible for introducing the Mock Trial program to the school. Mary also loved to travel with her students, taking a number of them on trips to London, England, Chicago, and Toronto. It was Mary’s passion to introduce her students to experiences within the arts, travel, and theater. After Mary retired from teaching at Vanlue, she continued to work in the field of education at the communications lab at Ohio Northern University.

An active member of many organizations in Findlay, Mary spent her early years as a Jaycette, a Sunday school teacher at First Lutheran Church, and a volunteer for Blanchard Valley Auxiliary. Most recently, Mary was a volunteer for the Mazza Art Museum Gift Shop and she helped out many summers in the Mazza art camps.

Friends and family may visit on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A private celebration of life service will follow at a later time. “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” And that is what Mary has always been: a great teacher who was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Jennifer Sue Koehler, 55, an eminent business owner of Bo-Ka Flowers, Findlay, Ohio peacefully passed away at Bridge Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Findlay, Ohio on September 12, 1962 to the late David L. and Shirley A. (Smith) Koehler. Jenny’s Journey began in October 2017 with a diagnosis of PCNS Lymphoma. Throughout her battle, Jenny maintained a positive attitude. Her mantra, became “I can, I shall, I will.” Her journey ended all-too-soon on Friday, May 4, 2018.

Jennifer enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, the Ohio State Buckeyes, her cats, but above all, Jenny loved her family.

Jennifer is survived by brother, D. Scott (Janet) Koehler; and sister, Kathy (Doug) Copus. She is also survived by aunt, Sue Smith; niece, Julia (Bob) Gower; and nephews, Michael (Catey) Koehler, Daniel (Brittany) Copus, and Matt (Briana) Copus.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Jean Ann Evans-Crandall, 64, of Findlay, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Findlay, Ohio on April 2, 1954 to the late Forest L. and Sally A. (Smith) Evans.

Jean loved her family, spending time and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and baking, among her many hobbies.

Jean is survived by her loving children, Philip (Nicole) Steen of Mt. Juliet, TN, Nathan (Angelique) Steen of Lima, OH, and Katherine (Aaron) Bibler of Findlay, OH; 9 grandchildren, Christian and Chloe Smith, Zachary, Alexis, Beau and Khai Bibler, Owen Chamberlain, Isabel Steen, and Chrystal Ziessler. She is also survived by her brother, David (Minette) Evans; and sisters, Jane (Dallas) Kline, Sarah Tesnow, Cynthia (James) Jones, Susan (Dante) Machir, and Elizabeth Phillips.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor Michael Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
