Jimmie Eugene Smith, 77, of Bloomdale, OH, passed away Saturday,
January 26, 2019 at his residence. He was born on June 14, 1941 in Fostoria,
Ohio to the late John F. and Addie M. (Meyers) Smith. He married Emma L.
(Burton) Smith and she preceded him in death in 2018.
Jimmie served in the United States Army. He attended Stautzenberger College and completed with his Associate’s degree.
Jimmie is survived by two sons, David L. Smith of Jerry City, OH, and Jimmie E. Smith II of Spencerville, OH; three daughters, Dawn M. Clark of Bloomdale, OH, Diana L. Feasel of Findlay, OH, and Lisa S. Caudill of Speedwell, TN. He is also survived by brother, Robert Smith; and two sisters, Patricia Hudson and Linda Palomo. He was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Smith. A private graveside service will be held in Arcadia Cemetery at a later date. Denny L. Hardwick, 62, of
Findlay, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Bridge Hospice Care Center.
He was born on January 5, 1957 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Donald and Thelma
(Cox) Hardwick. On April 1976, Denny married Debra Vanatta and she survives him
in Findlay.
Denny worked at Cooper Tire
and Rubber Company retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the
V.F.W. and the Findlay Moose Lodge. Denny also served his country in the United
States Army before being honorably discharged.
Denny is survived by his wife
of 42 years, Debra; sons, Kevin Hardwick (Shelly Robinson) and Kyle Hardwick
(Melissa Sparks), both of Findlay; eight much-loved grandchildren, Tobias,
Taylor, Halaynna, Destiny, Madison, Kylie, Boston, and Zoey. He is also
survived by his brothers, Donald (Mary) Hardwick, Terry Hardwick; and his
nephews and nieces, Todd, Travis, “Danyel Hardwick”, Chad and Terry Hardwick,
and Dawn “Hancock” Hardwick.

Robert Gene Webster, age 86, of Findlay, passed away peacefully
Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born on May
18, 1932 in Archbold, OH to the late Wilson S. and Florence I. (Keck) Webster.
On July 1981, Robert and Elaine Huff were united in marriage and shared 37
years together.
Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved his
cat, Murphy. He was a member of the DAV, enjoyed fishing and remodeling. Robert
was an Army veteran of the Korean War, having served from 1952 – 1954 before
being honorably discharged.
Robert is survived by his loving wife,
Elaine; two daughters, Pam (Mike) Smith and Cheryl (Dwight) Brown;
step-daughter, Denise (Dennis) Craft; and step-sons, Brad and Dennis Webb. He
is also survived by his twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two grandchildren,
Michael Smith and Natasha Martin; and step-mother, Ruth Webster.

Charles “Rusty” M. Patterson
Jr., of Findlay, passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at
Blanchard Valley Hospital. Rusty was the beloved husband of Joyce DeBord of 52
years. He was born on August 12, 1947 in Bellevue, OH to the late Charles M.
and Helen L. (Wilson) Patterson, Sr.
Rusty was a high school
graduate of Liberty-Benton. He retired from Ohio Bank and served on the Findlay
Police Department and was a member of the F.O.P. and H.O.G. He loved hunting,
fishing and playing poker with his brothers. One of his greatest enjoyments was
riding his Harley. Rusty lived for his grandchildren and loved watching them
play sports.
Rusty is survived by his
loving wife, Joyce; son, Kevin M. Patterson; daughters, Kimberly (Michael) Cook
and Nicole R. Reyna; and his precious grandchildren, Ryan, Chase, Kristen,
Kaitlyn, River, and Haylee. He is also survived by his brothers, Roger (Dana),
Terry (Sandy), Gary (Teresa), and Pat; and a sister-in-law, Becky Patterson.
Rusty was preceded in death by sister, Janet and her husband, Roger Nungester;
and brother, Tim Patterson.

John Anthony Nichols Sr., 68,
of Findlay, formerly of Russellville, Arkansas, departed this life into the
loving arms of His Savior, surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday,
February 13, 2019 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born October 30, 1950 in
Russellville, AR to the late Charles Lee and Evelyn (Jackson) Nichols. John
married his loving wife Carolyn (Mitchell) on December 18, 1971.
Carolyn survives him along
with sons, John Anthony Jr., and Jonathan Antonio Arlando (Laura); daughters,
Rayleah and Diva Shay Sherard; grandchildren, Sierra, Gretchen, Brianna,
Sophia, Hallie, Paxton, Calliope; and step-grandchildren, Deja, Novia, and
Quintrell. John is also survived by his brother, Charles Lee Nichols; sisters,
Velva Nichols, Jacelyn Thompson, and Carolyn (Dewitt-Brackman); and a host of
nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn (Merile)
Harris.
John was an avid supporter of
his grandchildren and attended all their athletic, music, and art events. He
loved making memories with them and spending time with his family. He retired
from Magnesium Elektron after 30 years of service. John was a member of
Mentoring Men for a Higher Calling, and was always willing to help those in
need.

Reverend Roy Berdell Girdler, 87, of Findlay, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Fox Run Manor. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 4, 1931 to the late Alonzo and Sally O. (Johnson) Girdler. On June 13, 1971, Roy and A. Selene Barnd were united in holy matrimony and shared 47 years together.
Roy was manager at Bazley’s Meat Market and meat cutter at Foodtown and Brinkman’s Cannery. He was a former Pastor of Pleasant Hill Community Church, former Assistant Pastor of Mission Time Holiness Church and a past member of First Assembly of God. Roy was also a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Findlay and was awarded Volunteer of the Year for his volunteer work at the Open Arms Domestic Shelter. Mostly, Roy loved time spent with his family and loved all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Anna Selene; sons, Douglas (Kathy) Girdler of Marion, KY, Sam (Laurie) Girdler of Van Buren, OH, Dean (Connie) Girdler of Findlay, OH; daughters, Wanda Kleman and Donnita Krauss, both of Findlay; fourteen grandchildren, Lydia (Mike) Clark, Doug (Leann) Girdler, Matt (Mary) Girdler, Steven (Michelle) Girdler, Krista Rowland, Travis (Amber) Girdler, Christina (Marc) Friia, Ahlivia Bender, Nick (Lauren) Girdler, Andy (Julie Finn) Girdler, Anna Girdler, Tiffany Bender (Nick Walker), Duane Frazier, April (Kenny) Smith; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Lonnie (Norma) Girdler of Somerset, KY; sisters, Mary Alpha (Montie) Phillips of Somerset, KY, and Laura Delphia (Dean) York of Russell Springs, KY; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a son, DeVerne Girdler; brothers, Clifford Ray, Alonzo Jr., Robert and Danny; sisters, Elsie Harrison, Sue Ann Calhoun, Teresa Lynn Girdler and Juanita Kallungi. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice McCleary; his mother-in-law, Genevieve Barnd; and son-in-law, Robert Krauss.

Karen Sue Fox, age 63, of
Findlay, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She
was born in Kittanning, PA on July 2, 1955 to Harry V. and Delores J.
(Shumaker) Fox.
Karen loved her family and
enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed
playing games with her grandkids.
Karen is survived by her mother, Delores; sons, Cory A. (Angela) Fox of Findlay, Jeffrey R. (Heather) Stissel of Williamstown, OH; daughter, Beth A. (Rick) Boney of Findlay; 7 grandchildren, Cory M. Fox, Ethan C. Fox, Molly A. Boney, Pierce A. Boney, Austin R. Stissel, Katrina J. Stissel, and Ashley Pool. She is also survived by her sisters, Shelly Brown, Tammy Jo Fox; and her aunts, Lois Bayliff, Barb Roseboom, and Thelma M. (Tootie) Reedy. Clarabelle Williams, 84, of
Findlay, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday, March 8, 2019 at Bridge
Hospice Care Center. She was born on August 24, 1934 in North Baltimore, Ohio
to the late Alton E. and Jessie B. (Ferguson) Harmon. On June 3, 1950,
Clarabelle married Richard B. Wickard and he preceded her in death on May 14,
1987. She then married Herman F. Williams on February 4, 1989 and he preceded
her in death on July 15, 1992.
Clarabelle was a retired
office assistant and became a homemaker, raising her family. At the age of 62,
she proudly earned her G.E.D. She was also a member of Stonebridge Church of
God in Findlay.
Clarabelle is survived by daughter, Beckie Schmidt; 9 grandchildren, Matt Shirley, Trish Meadon, Missy Grandinetti, Kenny Luna, Stacey Morris, Chris Stilberger, Tracey Davis, Sandra Davis, Billy Joe Rutter, and families; 21 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins and friends. Clarabelle was preceded in death by sons, Eddie Wickard and Richard E. Wickard; daughter, Jennifer Anderson; 8 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Margaret Sturgess, 91, of
Findlay, peacefully passed away with her loving family beside her on March 5,
2019 in the comfort of her daughter’s home. She was born on November 20, 1927
in Norwich, England to the late George A. and Glady I. (Roper) Hook. On June
28, 1943, Margaret and the late Darrell Sturgess were united in marriage in
Norwich, England. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2012.
Margaret was a housewife
raising her four children. She loved knitting, crafts, bowling and she was also
a golfer.
Margaret is survived by her children, Michael (Sue) Sturgess of Findlay; daughters, Linda (Harold) Spence and Sherry Hough, both of Findlay, and Meryll (Mickey) Hal of Eastlake, OH; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Margaret is also survived by her brothers, Selby Gunning and David Gunning both of England; sisters, Esther Vanderburg of Findlay, Betty Hughes and Helen Windsor, both of England. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Gunning of England; and a sister, Kay Gray of England.

Ida Marion (Baur) Wells, 90, of Findlay, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2019. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 11, 1928. On June 28, 1952, Ida was united in marriage to Rev. Carl Leslie Wells and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2015.
Ida and her husband were missionaries with Baptist Church Planters who established and helped nine churches. Her passion was teaching children for the past 65 years. As a member of First Baptist Church, she was actively involved in teaching in the kids club, Jr. Church, working in the nursery, VBS, cleaning the church or wherever she could help out.
Ida is survived by her four children, Dave Wells and his wife LaVonne of Ormond Beach, FL, Edie Maskell and her husband Pastor Michael Maskell of Findlay, OH, Pastor Tim Wells and his wife Donna of Boise, ID and Tom Wells and his wife Martha of Lewisville, N.C.; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1635 Fostoria Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840 where her son Rev. Allen Emmet Stahl, 82, of McComb, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Independence House in Fostoria. He was the loving husband of Susan (Naus) Stahl who survives him; together they shared 55 years of marriage. Allen was born on April 4, 1936 in Alvada, Ohio to the late Charles L. and Inez B. (Fruth) Stahl.
Allen attended Van Buren High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1959 serving in Korea and he also served from 1961 – 1962. Allen loved to go visit his friends and family. You could always find him out in the barn tinkering and fixing things. He loved to always have something to sort. Allen was a lifetime farmer, very caring, thoughtful, and somewhat stubborn person. He retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company after 33 years of service.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Susan of McComb; son, Rodney Stahl of Arlington; daughters, Chantelle (Russell) Howard of Van Buren, Michelle (Jay) Wilson of Middletown, OH; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Mackenzie, Trevor, Connor, Kassie, Jessie, Zach, Brandon and Brittany; 6 great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Harley, Aiden, Benjamin, Brett and Abigail. Allen is also survived by his twin sister, Alice Loomis of Weston, OH; brother-in-law, Jack (Celeste) Naus of N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Stahl; brother-in-law, J.R. Loomis; and sister-in-law, Shirley Tomlinson.

Frances Evelyn Holbrook, 90, of Findlay, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Birchaven Village. She was born in Elliott County, Kentucky on April 4, 1928 to the late Earl M. and Effie L. (Ison) Robinson. On October 31, 1953, Evelyn married Wayne Holbrook and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2012. She was a member of Findlay First Church of the Nazarene and Order of Eastern Star. Evelyn enjoyed baking, quilting and playing bingo.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Randy) Daniels of Findlay; 2 grandchildren, Brandon (Sonja) Daniels of Findlay and Lauren (Darrin) Vensil of Zanesville, OH; and 3 great-grandchildren, Serena, Benjamin and Carson. She is also survived by a sister, Merle R. West of Ashland, KY. Frances was preceded in death by her brother, Paul G. Robinson.

Roberta Paynter, of Celina, peacefully passed away at the age of 53 on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at her residence with her loving family beside her. She was born on September 29, 1965 in Ronceverte, WV to Fred S. Paynter and Linda (Defibaugh) Morehart. On March 2, 2005, Roberta married Jeff Howard, he survives. Roberta was a devoted mother and grammy. A loving wife and she loved her dog, Matty and her cat, Trudy. She was also a former truck driver.
Also surviving is her mother, Linda; daughters, Krista Ibarra (Seth) of Findlay, Kimberly Martin (Matthew) of Arlington, Brittany Oates (Steven) of Forest; son, David Oates (Cassie) of Findlay; two step-daughters, Dawn Oates of Toledo and Brandy Lanagan (Rob) of Findlay; and 12 precious grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Paynter (Mary) of Findlay, Fred Paynter (Angela) of Forest, Stacey Paynter (Holly) of Mansfield; and sister, Kimberly Moore (Michael) of Arlington. Roberta was preceded in death by her father, Fred Shelton Paynter; and son-in-law, Derek Darwood Howard; and her step-father, James Morehart.

Betty Lou Priest, 86, of McComb, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green. She was born on March 5, 1933 in Milton, WVA to the late William and Almedia (Wise) Morrison Sr. Betty enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Betty is survived by her sons, Darrell Priest of Findlay, William “Bill” Priest of Weston and John Priest of McComb; daughter, Roberta Ritter and her husband Ron of Napoleon; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Lindsay Priest; daughter, Teresa Priest; and five grandchildren, Moressa, Olive, Zachary, Jacqueln and Ash-Lee. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Lois, Lucy, Isis, Sarah and Wilma Gene; and four brothers, Frances, Kelly, Junior and Jesse; and twins.

Roger Duane Davis, age 74, passed away Friday, March 29th, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born in Robinson, Illinois on October 21st, 1944 to Duane Frederick Davis and Rayetta Wilson Davis.
Roger was the beloved husband of Judy Woodward Davis for more than 52 years and they built an incredible legacy together. Roger was the father of three children: Laura Davis (Jamie McMaster), Amy Davis Wells, and Grant Davis (Jaime Metzger). Through his children, he was the incredibly proud Papa of six amazing grandchildren: Sammi (Brenden), Davis (Brendon), Mackenzie, Abby, Shea, and Sydney. His life’s passion was to spend as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren serving as a wise and constant supporter of everything they loved. Roger was the eldest of three siblings. His sister Karen Davis Vackert and brother Greg Davis still survive.
Roger valued education. After graduating from high school he worked full-time and took classes in the evenings and weekends until he earned his B.A. in Business from Findlay College in June 1973. He spent his business career guiding others as a Human Resources Manager at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company. Roger also was devoted to developing not only his family but also the community. He spent several years working with the Hancock Soccer Association and was deeply proud of his involvement with the Hancock County Mental Health Clinic serving as a member of the Board of Directors from 1978-1985. He served as the President of this board from 1981-1983. One of his proudest accomplishments, during his time with the board, was when they revamped the old children’s home on North Main Street and transformed it into a facility to provide mental health services to the community.
Roger was a passionate photographer, an avid reader, loved traveling, and sharing Michigan sunsets with his family.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 3rd from 3 to 7 pm and then a celebration of life will be hosted by his family and the Reverend Virginia Geaman on Thursday beginning at 11:30. They will additionally receive visitors an hour before the celebration. Both events will be held at Hufford Family Funeral Home in Findlay.
To honor Roger’s life, a scholarship will be established in his name in conjunction with the Hancock County Community Foundation. Peggy Sue (Fitton) Greeno, 58, of Findlay, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born on April 8, 1960 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Edmund Fitton Jr. and Roberta Maude Greeno.
Peggy is survived by her son, Paul Ray Dugan Jr. of Columbus, OH; daughters, Amy Marie Bregg of Parma, MI, Kristy Ann Phillips of Griffin, GA, and Catherine Sue Parmentier of Norwalk, OH; and 17 grandchildren. Her brother, Edmund Robert Fitton of Grand Rapids, MI, also survives.

Dora Mae (Tennant) Rucker, of Findlay, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2019 at the age of 78. She was born in Findlay, Ohio on January 17, 1941 to the late Ernest and Isabel (Lydick) Tennant.
Dora will live on in the memory of her husband, Bud Rucker; daughters, Donna Homan, Marsha (Major) Powell, Susan (Craig) Gotschalk, Deanna (Mike) Brown; sons, Jeff (Pam) Fackler, James (Pam) Fackler, Charles (Jody) Rucker; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her babysitting children, Virginia, Garret and Paul; brothers, Ernie (Nancy) Tennant and Art Tennant; sisters, Gloria (Dan) Powers, Katherine Cunningham, and Susie (Carl) Wooten. Dora was preceded in death by her late husband, James Fackler Sr.; son, James E. Fackler, and a grandson, Ronnie James Wells Fackler.
Dora was a member of Moose Lodge #698 and Disabled Veterans of America Chapter #43. She loved to babysit and be around people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending car shows. Dora was a Ford lover in spite of trying to talk her into a Chevy. Boxer dogs were always in her house and she loved to keep parakeets. Plants were plenty in her house. She had a green thumb for both flowers and gardens.
Friends and family may visit on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 8th at 10 a.m. with Reverend David To officiating. Burial will follow in Benton Ridge Cemetery. A graveside service for Richard F. Fairchild, 89, of Kimberly, Idaho and formerly of Findlay, will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Clymer Cemetery, Union Township, the Rev. Jim Klausing officiating, with military rites by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Mr. Fairchild died Thursday, April 11, 2019, at his residence.
Steve Allen DePuy, 63, of Arlington, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at The Toledo Hospital in Toledo, OH. He was born June 17, 1955 in Findlay to Donald E. and Rheta A. (Wilson) DePuy. Steve enjoyed NASCAR, being outside, cutting wood, spending time at the river and fishing at the reservoir. He had a true bond with his dog “Bob” of 17 years.
Steve is survived by his mother, Rheta of Findlay; brothers, Bruce DePuy and Brad (Nancy) DePuy; sister, Rhonda (Mike) Cool. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Chad, Christopher, Brandon, Ben, Carrie, Whitney, Taylor, Morgan, and Dillon; and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A memorial service will be held on Friday at the conclusion of visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Bash officiating. Paul H. Cooper, 68, of Findlay, Ohio and formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away at home after a long and difficult battle with Parkinson’s disease and with his loving wife, Linda (Altman) Cooper by his side. Paul was born December 14, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Talbot H. Cooper and Elizabeth (Dennette) Cooper, who preceded him in death. Paul retired from General Motors Powertrain, Toledo, Ohio after 28 years of service as a skilled tradesman. He and his wife Linda loved traveling together.
Paul was a loving and giving father to Jason (Jenny) Cooper of Bedford, MI, Sarah (Bill) Farmer and Brian Cooper, both of Toledo, OH; and grandchildren, Jonathon, Olivia, Othniel and Jasek Cooper. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Betsy (Scott) Bronder and Amber Fry. Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary, Alice and Della; and brother, Thomas.
Much gratitude is extended to Dr. Fox, Dr. Dawley and the caring Bridge Hospice staff for the exceptional care and compassion bestowed upon us during Paul’s final days.
